Romania Enrichment Classes

St. Louis Grammar School provides special enrichment classes to prepare student volunteers for the project that they will undertake.

All volunteers are highly recommended to attend these classes.

Topics covered include :

• Travel and fundraising payments : Amounts, deadlines and methods of payment.

• Fundraising methods : Ideas which are most likely to succeed based on the experience of previous volunteers.

• Life in children's homes : videos from inside orphanages. Early footage of very poor conditions. More recent footage of modern homes, illustrating the challenges that the children face.

• Romania - History, Geography & Culture.

• The Roma people : What life is like for gypsies in Romania.

• Basic Romanian language guide : Pronunciation of words and phrases that will be needed during the trip.

• Final, crucial pre departure briefing : Extra long briefing session to ensure a smooth and safe experience.
